איירין נהרגה בשנת 2000, הייתה בת 12.

בתי אהובתי איירין. כמה התגעגעתי אליך. את נמצאת בזיכרוני כול הזמן, אני מדמיין כל יום את דמותך ואת קולך, ואת הסתובבותך עם אחיותיך.

את היית זאת שגילתה חמלה כלפיי יותר מכולן, לא סירבת לבקשות שלי ותמיד נעזרתי בך.

אהובתי איירין, אני זוכר כיצד היית נעמדת מול המראה ומתאפרת על מנת להראות כמה את יפה. אני נזכר באהבתך לטיולים ולמשחקים, בכול פעם שאני נכנס לחדרך אני מרגיש שאת נמצאת, והכאב, אנחת הצער והגעגועים אליך הורגים אותי כול יום, עד הרגע הזה בו אני כותב לך את האיגרת הזאת. דמותך לא משה מדמיוני, את חיה איתי כל יום, כל דקה וכל שנייה.

החיים בלעדיך אינם חיים. כן איירין, כמה אני מתגעגע לחיבוק ולנשיקה ממך. ייחלתי למות במקומך. עזבת מוקדם את העולם הזה וכל מה שמכאיב לי זה שאת לא תשובי לעולם. אני מאחל לרוחך שלום, מאחל לראותך בגן עדן. אללה ירחם עליך אהובתי וישכן אותך בגן עדן.

היום אני מדבר עליך בכל מקום. אני נזכר שכאשר הצטרפתי לפורום המשפחות השכולות כמה זה היה קשה, אבל עכשיו אנחנו ביחד, משני הצדדים הפלסטיני והישראלי, כחברים בפורום המשפחות, מפיצים את המסר שלנו לכל העולם: די לאלימות וכן לחיים בשלום.
